Tip of the Week #110 – Calculate Two Different Paper Items on One Machine

Senior Consultant Jörg Hüner brings us this week’s tip.

Question:

Is it in any way possible to have two different types of paper in a calculation for which both have the ITEM TYPE = PAPER?

Answer:

Yes – just create a second Material/Item line on the Calculation Unit for the paper. Only keep in mind not to use formulas 14/15, which will pick the paper from the Job Item. You could also create a custom formula to get the quantity and then just select the needed paper.

In my setup I’m using a lookup formula to get the quantity from the line above.

You could also use the Consumables Table on the Job Item for the additional paper, but this would require a formula report that knows which item to pick from there:
