Tip of the Week #160 – Link Your Azure File Storage to Your Local Machine

You may have noticed that cloud computing and storage concerns are becoming increasingly common in and around your daily tasks. This week, Developer Christian Mütze has a helpful tip for connecting your local PC to Microsoft’s cloud storage platform, Azure.

Go to your Azure Portal, and from there to your Storage account resource group.

Select Files.

Create a new File Share.

Once it is created, press the Connect button.


Copy and paste the shell command or the PowerShell command – and apply it on your local machine.

When it is completed without any errors, you will be able to access your Azure files from your local machine – just like a network drive.
